PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Having immigrated from China to the United States at a young age without speaking English, Shirley brings a personal understanding of navigating communication across languages and cultures. This experience shaped her passion for helping individuals and families build meaningful, functional communication skills.
Passionate about inclusion and neurodiversity-affirming practice, Shirley works with multilingual and multicultural families around the world. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, conversational in Japanese, and has beginning proficiency in German.
Shirley received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, East Bay. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in California.
Clinical Experience
Shirley specializes in bilingual assessment, therapy, consultation, and parent coaching. Her pediatric experience includes working with children with autism, Down syndrome, developmental and cognitive differences, learning disabilities, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, fluency disorders, language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, gestalt language processing, and social communication differences.
Shirley has collaborated with Nancy Inman and PRC-Saltillo in the development of WordPower in Mandarin Chinese, contributing to expanding culturally and linguistically responsive AAC resources for Mandarin-speaking users.
She also supports late teens and young adults with executive functioning, social dynamics and communication, self-advocacy, and real-life problem solving. Sessions are practical and individualized, using situations from school, work, relationships, and everyday life to build strategies that can be applied outside therapy.

Shirley 老師小時候從中國移民到美國。剛到美國時，她並不會說英文，因此親身經歷過學習新語言、適應不同文化，以及無法順利表達自己的挑戰。這些經歷讓她更能理解不同語言及文化背景的孩子與家庭，亦成為她投入語言治療工作的其中一個重要原因。
Shirley 老師重視共融及神經多樣性肯定（neurodiversity-affirming）的治療方式，致力協助個案發展真正能夠應用於日常生活中的溝通能力。她能流利使用普通話及廣東話，能以日語進行日常交流，並具初級德語能力。
Shirley 老師擁有加利福尼亞大學聖地亞哥分校心理學學士學位，以及加利福尼亞州立大學東灣分校語言病理學理學碩士學位。她持有美國言語聽覺協會（ASHA）的 CCC-SLP 認證，並持有美國加州語言治療師執照。
